SINGAPORE & LONDON--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Vertical Aerospace (NYSE: EVTL), a global aerospace and electric aviation technology company, has been selected as a winner of the “Dimension X Cohort 7 Challenge” and awarded a Proof-of-Concept (POC) grant by Hatch, an innovation center under Singapore’s Home Team Science & Technology Agency (HTX).
The grant will support the development, testing, and validation of an Emergency Medical Services (EMS) use case for Vertical Aerospace’s Valo electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft platform. The initiative will explore how electric and hybrid-electric aircraft can support time-critical medical response operations, particularly for remote island regions around Singapore.
Under the programme, Vertical Aerospace will collaborate with HTX, Hatch, and operational stakeholders to:
The project will continue through April 2026 and includes collaboration with Singapore’s Home Team agencies to assess how eVTOL and VTOL aircraft could complement existing emergency response infrastructure and potentially improve patient outcomes in critical medical situations.
Vertical Aerospace was selected through a competitive evaluation process, with the company highlighting that the decision reflects confidence in Valo’s safety-focused design, mission flexibility, and certification strategy. The programme is also viewed as a significant step toward broader Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) adoption and future operational deployment in Singapore.
The initiative aligns with Singapore’s national efforts to support the development of the Advanced Air Mobility ecosystem, led by the Singapore Economic Development Board and the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore. These efforts focus on establishing regulatory frameworks and infrastructure for next-generation aviation technologies.
Stuart Simpson, CEO of Vertical Aerospace, said the collaboration with Singapore’s public safety and security organizations represents an important milestone in exploring how electric and hybrid-electric aviation can safely support emergency response operations in the region.
Shao Hong Mok, Centre Director of Hatch and Senior Vice President of Innovations at TechX Ventures, stated that the partnership demonstrates how emerging technologies can be evaluated to address real operational challenges while maintaining a strong emphasis on safety, regulation, and operational readiness.
The Dimension X Open Innovation Challenge supports early-stage companies developing dual-use technologies with strong potential to improve public safety. Winning participants receive S$100,000 in non-dilutive funding along with access to HTX technical experts, operational teams, and real-world testing opportunities.
