ACI Worldwide and Security Bank Philippines Set New Benchmark for Enterprise-wide Payments Modernization

Unified, cloud-ready payment platform drives 35% transaction growth and triples processing capacity.

OMAHA, Neb. & SINGAPORE--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- ACI Worldwide (NASDAQ: ACIW), a pioneer in global payments technology, along with Security Bank Corporation, one of the leading universal banks in the Philippines, announced that they received the “Best Payment Technology Initiative in Asia Pacific” award at the TAB Global Financial Technology Innovation Awards 2026. The recognition highlights the successful modernization of Security Bank’s payment infrastructure through a unified and scalable platform that combines low and high-value ISO 20022 real-time payment processing and automation across all banking channels.

This initiative stands out because of its enterprise-wide implementation and future-ready architecture. ACI Worldwide and Security Bank revamped the bank’s complete payments orchestration framework, replacing fragmented systems with a centralized platform designed to support continuous innovation, regulatory compliance, and ecosystem growth. The solution combines transaction processing, monitoring, investigation, and reporting within a single operational environment, helping reduce manual processes while improving straight-through transaction processing. As digital commerce continues to expand and customer expectations for speed, security, and reliability increase, the project sets a new benchmark for strategic payment transformation in the banking industry.

“Many payment modernization projects focus mainly on infrastructure upgrades, but this initiative delivers measurable business impact. By streamlining operations, reducing time to market, and enabling new revenue opportunities, it creates a significant competitive advantage for the bank,” said Leslie Choo, Senior Vice President and Managing Director – APAC at ACI Worldwide. “Working closely with Security Bank, we rebuilt the payment backbone with a unified and intelligent orchestration layer that delivers greater agility, control, and resilience in today’s digital economy.”

The transformation also demonstrates Security Bank’s proactive response to common industry challenges such as fragmented systems, scalability limitations, and inconsistent customer experiences. The new platform unifies payment processing across multiple payment rails, enabling standardized workflows, higher automation, and complete operational visibility throughout the payment lifecycle. Built using a modern microservices-based architecture in a cloud-native environment, the solution is fully ISO 20022-native, ensuring interoperability and readiness for future regulatory requirements while remaining compatible with existing legacy systems.

“This transformation directly impacts how we serve customers and strengthen the bank’s growth,” said John Cary Ong, Executive Vice President and Wholesale Banking Segment Head at Security Bank Corporation. “Payments have evolved from being just a back-end function to becoming a key customer experience and business differentiator. Together with ACI Worldwide, we developed a modern payments platform that allows us to innovate faster, scale efficiently, and operate without the limitations of outdated systems.”

The initiative was implemented through close collaboration between Security Bank and ACI Worldwide, combining strong industry expertise, agile delivery, and executive support. A phased rollout enabled faster deployment, with InstaPay going live within 10 months and quickly scaling to over 10 million transactions per month. The results have been substantial, with transaction volumes across domestic payment channels increasing by 35% year-over-year. Additionally, the platform tripled transaction processing capacity while maintaining 99.99% uptime, showcasing exceptional reliability, scalability, and operational performance.
