Sportradar will retain selected technology assets and capabilities as it sharpens its focus on betting, gaming and media.
Sportradar Group AG (Nasdaq: SRAD) has agreed to sell Atrium Sports, the operator of its Synergy Sports coaching and scouting business, to Teamworks Innovations Inc. for $170 million in cash. The companies expect the transaction to close in the fourth quarter of 2026, subject to customary closing conditions.
Sportradar AG, a Sportradar subsidiary, entered into the purchase and sale agreement with Teamworks on Oct. 6. The agreement covers 100% of the issued and outstanding equity interests of Atrium Sports Inc. The price is subject to adjustments under the terms of the deal.
Sportradar said the transaction represents an "accretive double-digit" EBITDA multiple relative to its market valuation. The company plans to use the proceeds to strengthen its balance sheet and support its capital allocation priorities.
Sportradar sharpens focus on core businesses
Founded in 2001, Sportradar is a sports betting and iGaming operator, media and technology company, prediction markets and sports federations.
The sale of Atrium Sports will reduce its exposure to the team-side coaching and scouting business while allowing it to retain technology that supports its core operations.
Chief Executive Carsten Koerl said the transaction will streamline the company as it focuses on betting, gaming and media, while retaining technology capabilities that are already integrated into its business.
Sportradar will retain automated video production cameras, automated graphics solutions, certain computer vision capabilities and competition management products, along with associated technology assets, capabilities and revenue.
The separation therefore does not represent a complete exit from the technology developed within the Atrium business. Instead, Sportradar is retaining components it considers relevant to its broader sports technology operations.
Teamworks expands its sports technology platform
Teamworks, based in Durham, N.C., serves more than 7,000 sports organizations globally. Its products cover player evaluation, game strategy, performance development and daily operations. It lists Zelus Analytics, Telemetry Sports, Sportlogiq and the enterprise business of Pro Football Focus among its acquisitions. Teamworks said in April that its strategy is to build data and AI capabilities across sports verticals.
The Atrium transaction adds Synergy Sports’ coaching and scouting capabilities to a buyer whose existing business is focused on teams, athletes and sports organizations.
Koerl said Synergy is a team-side analytics platform for baseball and basketball and that the transaction positions the business for its next phase under a company focused on serving teams and athletes. Sportradar said it will work with Teamworks on the transition for clients, partners and employees.
Sportradar acquired Synergy in 2021
Sportradar agreed to acquire Synergy Sports in March 2021, describing it at the time as a provider of automated sports technology and data and video analytics for U.S. college and professional sports. Synergy had league-wide relationships with the NBA and MLB and broad coverage across NCAA Division I basketball and baseball.
Atrium Sports was the corporate entity associated with the Synergy Sports business acquired by Sportradar. The transaction reflects a change in ownership of the coaching and scouting operation rather than a sale of all of Sportradar’s Synergy-related technology.
Sale remains subject to closing conditions
The transaction is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2026, subject to customary closing conditions. Until closing, Atrium Sports remains part of Sportradar.
