Intel Named Official Compute Partner of McLaren Racing

SANTA CLARA, Calif. & WOKING, England--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Intel Corporation and McLaren Racing have announced a multi-year strategic partnership that designates Intel as the Official Compute Partner of the McLaren Mastercard Formula 1 Team, Arrow McLaren IndyCar Team, and McLaren F1 Sim Racing Team. This collaboration will deliver advanced computing solutions and AI-driven high-performance architectures to support one of the most technologically demanding environments in global motorsport.

The partnership brings together two globally recognized organizations with a shared focus on performance and innovation—combining Intel’s expertise in semiconductor design and platform engineering with McLaren’s championship legacy and trackside execution capabilities.

Under the agreement, Intel® Xeon® and Intel® Core™ Ultra processors will power critical workloads across McLaren Racing’s operations. These include computational fluid dynamics (CFD), aerodynamic development, vehicle dynamics simulation, race strategy analytics, and real-time decision-making systems that link the McLaren Technology Centre in Woking with race operations worldwide.

Motorsport disciplines such as Formula 1 and IndyCar generate vast volumes of data—from telemetry streams to simulation outputs—where even milliseconds can influence race outcomes. Intel’s computing infrastructure enables McLaren to transform this data into actionable insights through a secure and scalable platform that integrates high-performance CPUs, low-latency edge computing, and diverse software ecosystems.

Lip-Bu Tan, CEO of Intel, emphasized that Formula 1 and IndyCar represent some of the most demanding proving grounds for high-performance computing. He noted that the partnership reflects a shared commitment to precision, speed, and continuous innovation, with both organizations aiming to push technological boundaries and convert data into competitive advantage.

Zak Brown, CEO of McLaren Racing, highlighted that performance in both Formula 1 and IndyCar is increasingly driven by advanced technology. He stated that Intel has already played a role within McLaren’s technology ecosystem, and this expanded partnership will further strengthen the team’s ability to innovate, design, and compete at the highest level.

This collaboration reflects a broader trend within Formula 1, where deep integration with technology partners is becoming a key competitive differentiator—linking factory-based engineering with trackside execution to deliver faster insights and improved performance outcomes.

Driving Performance Through Compute and AI

Intel technologies will be integrated across McLaren Racing’s operations, including:

  • Trackside edge computing to support real-time analytics and race-day decision-making
  • Advanced computing systems for simulation, aerodynamics, and digital twin modeling
  • AI platforms to accelerate design cycles and enable predictive performance modeling

Together, the two organizations will co-develop solutions aimed at enhancing performance, operational efficiency, and sustainability.

Brand Integration and Visibility

As part of the partnership, Intel branding will appear on McLaren Mastercard Formula 1 Team cars beginning with the Montreal race. Branding will also feature on Arrow McLaren IndyCar Team cars during the Freedom 250 in Washington, D.C., and at the iconic Indianapolis 500 in 2027. Additionally, starting next season, Intel branding will be incorporated into the McLaren F1 Sim Racing Team’s virtual cars and simulator platforms.

A Shared Vision for Innovation

Intel and McLaren Racing share a unified vision centered on advancing technology through high-performance computing, AI, and engineering excellence. From factory development to race-day execution, the partnership is focused on translating cutting-edge processor and compute innovations into tangible competitive advantages on track.
